2010 Subaru Legacy ain’t so bad in EPA rating

While the rest of the carmakers in the world are facing financial downfalls or the threats of possible acquisitions and closures, Subaru remains nonchalant about it.  Even though the 2010 Legacy’s features leave nothing much to be desired, Subaru is set to develop a follow-up Legacy model.  However, the newcomer is set for a tough entry with the EPA’s new fuel economy figures.

Okay, so maybe all’s not lost.  The new Legacy 2.5i model is packed with a CVT engine that makes 31mpg highway rate and a 23mpg city rate.  Combined, the new Legacy finishes at 26mpg, raising it to the upper levels of the its class.  The model’s engine capactity, AWD potential, as well as its size also help it move higher in class.  Subaru said that the new Legacy 2.5i is “ the most efficient 2010 mid-size AWD sedan in the U.S.”

According to Tim Mahoney, the CMO and senior vice president of Subaru America, they are ecstatic to say that their new 2010 Legacy model comes with bigger space and offers a better driving experience as compared to their competitors.  Mahoney added that the new 2010 Legacy is also more fuel-efficient at a reasonable price tag.

Unfortunately the bigger 2.5GT and 3.6R Legacy models rake up worse rates—at 25mpg in highway driving and 18mpg in city driving, with a total of 21mpg combined.

On the brighter side of things, the 2010 Legacy is, in fact, has better fuel efficiency compared to its predecessors.  That should make things a bit sweeter.
